Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if a business hasn't set up card payments yet?

The online order page needs card payments (it's built for online + kiosk checkout). If a location hasn't connected Stripe and isn't in test mode, the page falls back to a "Place order · pay at counter" button so customers can still place the order and pay in person at pickup. As soon as the business finishes Stripe Connect setup under Settings → Payments, the card checkout button appears and the pay-at-counter fallback is hidden automatically.

How do I test card payments before going live?

While the platform runs on a Stripe test key, card checkout works right away — no Connect onboarding required — and charges are routed to a test account, so no real money moves. A "Test mode" banner shows on the order page and in Settings → Payments. Use the test card 4242 4242 4242 4242 with any future expiry and any CVC. On a live key this is off: each business must connect their own Stripe account so funds settle to their bank.

When is a customer's card charged — at order or at pickup?

You choose. Open the dashboard, go to Menu / Products, click the settings gear, and pick a Payment flow. "Charge at order" (the default) captures the card immediately at checkout — best for prepaid online orders. "Hold, capture at pickup" only authorizes the card at order time and captures it when you mark the order Completed, so you don't collect until you're ready to hand it over. The setting applies to online and kiosk orders for that location.

How do refunds and voids work, and how do I avoid chargebacks?

It's driven by the order status you already set. On the "Hold, capture at pickup" flow: marking an order Completed automatically captures the held card, and marking it Cancelled voids the hold — the customer is never charged, so there's no charge to dispute. If you can't fulfill an order, cancel it instead of refunding. For an order that's already been paid, open it from the Orders tab and use the Refund button to return the full amount to the customer's card. A payment badge (Card held, Paid, Refunded, or Void) shows on each order so you always know where it stands.

Can I use one card reader with multiple iPads?

No. Assign one reader to one register device to avoid connection collisions and payment interruptions.

Can kiosk mode accept cash?

Kiosk mode is designed for card-first self-service flow. Use a staffed POS lane for cash handling.

How do I push catalog changes instantly?

Update products in the dashboard, then refresh POS and online order pages. For native wrappers, reloading pulls latest data from your API.

How do customers create accounts?

Customers can register through your existing signup flow and then sign in for saved profile and checkout history.

How do I accept booking deposits online?

Set a deposit amount on a service in the Bookings → Services tab. When a customer books that service, they are redirected to Stripe Checkout to pay the deposit before the booking is confirmed.

Can I take bookings without staff availability set up?

Resources and group classes don't require staff availability rows. For service bookings, availability must be configured per staff member — otherwise no time slots will appear.

How do I enable or disable a module (e.g. Bookings)?

Open the dashboard, click the settings gear in the top-right, and toggle any module on or off under Feature Modules. Disabled modules hide their tab immediately.

Why aren't confirmation emails or SMS messages sending?

Check that AWS SES credentials and a verified From address are saved in Location Settings. For SMS, confirm your Twilio Account SID, Auth Token, and From Number are correct.

Can multiple locations share the same Stripe account?

Yes. Add the same Stripe keys to each location, or use Stripe Connect to manage payouts per location independently.
